Extreme weather events can result in stress and shock for wildlife.

As storms and heavy rain continue to lash Australia, we are receiving calls to assist animals impacted by the large areas of inundation and fast-flowing floodwaters. We ask that you please always follow the advice and directions from the relevant State authorities. For your own safety do not enter floodwaters at any time and if you are caught in a flood, call triple zero 000 for help.  read more

Today is International Womens day and we want to celebrate the amazing efforts of women in the WIRES community. WIRES could not exist without the 2788 female volunteers who use their time, energy and knowledge to rescue, rehabilitate and protect our wildlife. Every day, these women choose to make an impact on the wellbeing of Australia's native animals by creating lasting change on their wellbeing and inspiring positive change in their communities.   read more

Just 12 months ago Australia was at the end of our worst fire season in history, which followed one of our worst droughts on record. Native animals need more help now than ever before and thanks to the generosity and compassion for wildlife of the Australian and International community, WIRES has been able to fund a wide range of critical projects nationally to improve wildlife emergency rescue response, increase wildlife rescue and rehabilitiation capacity and support native species recovery. read more
