Earlier this year a member of the public called WIRES to say that a bird of some sort was running up and down Cross Street in Double Bay, Sydney (a very exclusive shopping area). At times it paused to admire its reflection in the plate glass window of the delicatessen.

'Prop' came into care after an argument with an outboard motor. His right flipper had been nearly cut off and he had a large wound on his rump from a propeller.
He was given a course of antibiotics for 7 days to fight infection and luckily the flipper was saved or else he would have been unable to be released. read more

A kind member of the public first spotted a water bird in trouble on the Tuesday before Easter on the Cooks River near Wolli Creek. The Darter was obviously in trouble with plastic ribbon from a party balloon tangled around her beak.
