A brushtail possum with severe burns to her front and back feet, her ears and her tail is safe and in recovery with WIRES. read more
A bushfire in Chain Valley Bay last Thursday 17 Oct left WIRES member Julie Allan with no option but to flee her home with an entire human and animal entourage in tow - with 5 children, her elderly mother and father, 4 domestic pets and a brushtail possum all in the car together. read more
The NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue & Education Service Inc. (WIRES) has taken a 105g female sugar glider into care today after it was rescued by the Silverdale Fire Brigade at Cordeaux dam in Wollongong. Unable to stop as they were on duty and had to get back to Silverdale. WIRES member Val Chew met them there to pick the little one up. read more
A horrific incident between a ute and an adult female koala has left a joey orphaned in the Central West of NSW. The koala joey, now fondly known as ‘Koala Bill’, is slowly recovering. read more
After a long recovery at Taronga wildlife clinic, WIRES is pleased to be releasing a green sea turtle back to the wild on the Central Coast of NSW this Monday the 14th of October. read more
A greater glider joey has been rescued by WIRES from the South East of NSW where the populations of the species is endangered. While the joey is healthy and likely to be released back into the wild, the future of the species remains dim. read more
The annual Entijuanarte Festival, Tijuana Mexico has a new attraction this year; an art installation featuring Australia’s cuddly koala. While tens of thousands are gathering to enjoy the giant koala bear, they are shocked to realise there are threats to the future of the species. read more
As the winter breeding season of the black swan comes to an end in southern parts of Australia, cygnets are birthing in the thousands around NSW. WIRES has put forward its 28th Spring Appeal, calling on the public to help it rescue unique wildlife animals like the black swan. read more
